Help tool for proper feeding of renal patients
Nephrodiet is a tool to help kidney patients eat better. It is aimed at patients in ACKD (pre-dialysis), on hemodialysis or on peritoneal dialysis. It has been carried out by the Spanish Renal Foundation based on a program designed and provided by Fernando Martínez Casado, a kidney patient.
It has the scientific endorsement of the Spanish Society of Nephrology (SEN) and the Spanish Society of Nephrological Nursing (SEDEN). The data collected therein is prepared by Daniel Escobar Sáez, Pablo Estebala Alández, Nina Padrón Esaa, Victoria Meléndez Lancáster, Olivia Robles Serrano, Cecilia Ibáñez Varela and Eva Gil Sánchez based on verified sources (*) and supervised by Dr. Guillermina Barril (Nephrologist) and by Ángel Nogueira, María Delgado Gª de Polavieja and Soraya Escribano. (Nutritionists).
The application is in the process of continuous updating and review by Nutrition professionals, and annually some improvements are included in its functionality and content. The changes made are implemented each year by Cristaliza Servicios. Since its launch in 2016, Nefrodiet has been chosen every year among the 5 best health apps in Spain by the isyscore, a scale developed by the iSYS Foundation to evaluate applications and which takes into account, among other criteria, popular interest, trust and usability.
