How many times have you walked down the street to the mailbox, only to find that the mail carrier has not yet arrived? How many wasted trips, especially on those days when you were expecting a check from a customer or a package from an online store?
Mailbox Tagger is the mobile device version of CheckMyMailbox (www.checkmymailbox.net), which is a time-saving device for people and businesses who share cluster mailboxes with their neighbors and wish to know when the postal carrier has visited the mailbox.
The way it works is that initial tagger (it could be you!) sets up a mailbox cluster to monitor on the CheckMyMailbox website. When you see the mail carrier deliver mail to the box, you tag it! Anyone else monitoring the same mailbox cluster will get a visual notification (-- on the CheckMyMailbox webpage or on the Mailbox Tagger phone app --) of the date and time of the most recent tagging. When a mailbox gets tagged, it means that the mail for the day has been delivered. So go get your mail!
UPDATE: Feb 4, 2015 - SMS texting added. Turn texting on for your cellphone from the CheckMyMailbox website and you'll be alerted via text message if anyone tags your mailbox. No need to monitor the site. THIS IS NOT A PHONE APP UPDATE, so don't worry about doing a new install.
Mailbox Tagger is an app for doing fast and easy mailbox tagging. Take your Android phone down to the mailbox with you. If there's mail in the box, tag the box. Then watch as your neighbors rush out of their houses and offices, mailbox keys in hand.
(If you don't want to be the person who's always going out to check the box because nobody else will, give the app to the nearest 12-year old. He'll get a point for each "thank you" he receives from his neighbors. No prizes, just points.)
For best results, at least three neighbors should be prepared to monitor and tag the mailbox...just to be fair. Mailbox Tagger and CheckMyMailbox are 100% free. Ads on the website are unobtrusively placed at the bottom of the page.
