Demo Free App to Help Children to reflect on Language
The castle of words is an app to help children reflect on language and to take the first steps towards learning the read-school.
The app is aimed at families and children, speech therapists, teachers and all specialists in the educational and therapeutic sector of the evolutionary age.
The app has three degrees of difficulty: easy, medium and difficult. For each degree of difficulty there are 8 levels, containing exercises aimed at improving metaphonological skills. The acquisition of these skills favors the learning of the bed-writing in children with development in the norm or with language disorders.
The theme of the game is the magic, the magician Flick guides the child throughout the journey in the castle, a succession of exercises and small games to the final mission: to fall asleep the sputufeoco dragon that wants to destroy the castle. In the end, the child after defeating the dragon will become the king of the castle.
The missions to do, the captivating graphics and the prizes are all elements that increase the motivation of children in their learning path.
The difficulty varies according to:
-Typology of stimuli: words and images, only words, images
-Complexity of the task: multiple choice, rebus, train from words
-Lungity and syllabic complexity of the stimuli
-imagination and frequency of stimuli
-Presence of semantic or phonological distractors
The choice of stimuli was made by speech therapists based on the study of existing manuals and the material used in clinical practice.
Changing the level or degree of difficulty is always easily possible through the level map. The child has 3 possibilities to respond correctly, two of which to self -configure, the third mistake the magician Flick provides the suggestion.
Completed each level, a feedback is provided for both the child and the adult.
Thanks to an experimentation it was possible to evaluate the effectiveness and clinical use of this tool.
